Hey, I'm Rob! I spend my spare time 3D printing toddler mobility training wheelchairs for the amazing program 3D Mobility hosted by the legendary MakeGood .
The chair I am manufacturing is the official 3D Toddler Mobility Trainer. It is only printed in Sunlu PETG and TPU 95A—no standard PLA here. PETG ensures heavy-duty structural integrity for frame plates, while flexible TPU 95A delivers shock-absorbing traction tires, joystick controls, and custom safety bumpers.

Hey, I'm Rob! 👋 I fell in love with 3D printing because of a simple passion: I love making things that are either deeply meaningful or highly functional.
In my workshop, you'll usually find me printing custom personal creations for gift giving to put smiles on faces, or tinkering with useful models that solve real, everyday problems around the house.
My journey into printing toddler wheelchair trainers started on an ordinary afternoon. My partner, Kristina, was scrolling through her phone and came across an Instagram reel showcasing the incredible 3D Mobility project.
The moment she showed it to me, it immediately spoke to me. It clicked instantly: here was an opportunity to take a technical hobby I genuinely enjoy, and channel it toward helping children in need.
"Combining something I love doing with providing life-changing tools for toddler speed-racers gives me an incredible sense of community, fulfillment, and deep, lasting purpose."
I operate an open book. All donations received from Stripe (along with legacy Patreon support) buy raw materials and spool packs. My direct totals and expenses are audited in real time.
Full analysis of build metrics, spool prices, machinery times, and delivery calculations.
I use premium high-strength Sunlu PETG for all heavy structural loadplates and shockproof joints, and Sunlu TPU 95A for elastic rubber tires, joysticks, soft seat spacers, and harness supports. Here is my exact material recipe per wheelchair:
With 29 complex build plates, each plate takes between 7 to 14 hours of continuous printing. The complete model takes a massive 360 total printer hours to manufacture — this time does not include the labor of manually calibrating bed temperatures, movements, extruder assembly calibration, flow calibration or bridge calibration time, which can be several hours.
I allocate donations to goals in high priority order. My primary goal is funded first—any leftover funds automatically roll over to support the secondary goals! This priority structure also allows me to transparently track exactly whose support is allocated to which item, and assign merchant purchase receipts directly to those funding goals.
How adding modern Bambu Labs printers cut wheelchair delivery times and accelerate my throughput! Currently, I can only print one chair at a time - adding more printers will allow us to produce multiple chairs at any given time. Currently, there are toddlers in our immediate area that have been in desperate need for a chair for months. I am currently choosing builds by their backlog order - it would be the most phenomenal thing to be able to knock out 2-4 chairs per month.
Interactive Print Cycle & Goal
I need more printers! Adding high-speed CoreXY or bedslinger machines like the Bambu Labs A2L or P2S will cut toddler chair production wait times by 50% to 75%. Help expand my fleet!
Elastic TPU Traction Tire Specialist
Our dedicated open-bed specialist for flexible elastomers. Fed directly from an active Sunlu S1 baking dryer, it flawlessly extrudes flexible TPU 95A to produce high-traction tires, impact-absorbing seat bumper dampers, and customized kid-friendly steering handle grips with perfect flow calibration.
Structural PETG Frame Plate Powerhouse
The enclosed CoreXY workhorse of our fleet. Utilizing a 0.4mm hardened steel nozzle, it prints around-the-clock structural base plates using abrasive Carbon Fiber PETG-CF and high-strength PETG. Its fully enclosed chamber maintains a stable ambient heat envelope, preventing warpage and ensuring flawless layer adhesion.
